There are a few types of gill parasites. Your fish does not have gill fluke- just another type of gill parasite.

Very. If a drop of water from a parasitic fish tank lands in another tank without parasites, they'll spread extremely fast (and I learned the hard way.) Dipping the baster in bleach after each time you use it would kill the parasites off, but it would be a lot of work.

Is there any other reason he would do this other than parasites? I just want to be sure before I treat him.

The parasites won't, but the salt might injure the snail... It'd be best to move him to another tank while you're doing the treatment.

Im gunna float him with the salt. So there is no worry of salt in the main tank.
