How should I clean my tank?

My Betta just died :( I buried him this morning.

Right now I'm in the process of removing all the water from the tank.

Over spring break (The first day of which is three weeks from today) I want to divide up my 10 gallon and put new Bettas in.

I'm assuming I should:

Rinse the plants and gravel REALLY well in hot water.
Rinse the filter in hot water and replace the filter media (I have a sponge baffling it and then I'm assuming I should replace the cartridge as well)
Rinse the heater really well in hot water as well
Rinse the tank in hot water

Is that all I need to do? I want it to be safe for new Bettas. As far as I know my Betta died because of his age, not an illness.

You could use a solution of water and bleach... don't remeber the ratio but it's the same you use for desinfecting baby toys.
Remember to let everything dry over a few days before getting it in contact with water again.

Maybe dont rinse the heater in too hot of water, they can be effected by that... Im sorry for your betta :c <3

I think it's 1 part bleach and 20 parts water.

if the betta didn't die of diseases or parasites, i'd keep the filter running and not rinse it with tap water hot or cold. the filter keeps beneficial bacteria that can help break down toxin's and waste, it also helps the tank cycle faster.
