Betta coming this week!

Ok so my betta is coming Thursday-Friday, And I'm setting up a 10 gallon with plants ect. but it won't be ready for at least several weeks, so for now I'm putting him in a 2.5 tank, bare bottomed, with some silk plants.
So the question is, can I put the water in now, treat it (btw how much Prime per gallon anyone?) add IAL, set up the heater ect. adn let it sit until he gets here? The water doesn't go bad right? I really feel noobish for asking but I'm just worried about it sitting for days before he comes.

Also is it ok to pre-treat water in gallon jugs for the next water change (3-5 days) will it be ok?

Yes, you can do that... we call it "aged water".
I actually prepare my water for the next water change everytime I change my water. I put a heater in the tank to bring the water to the same temp as the tank's water a couple of hours before the water change.
That way, there's little aclimating to do if any at all since the temperature is just right.
