So I figured out the 2 out of my 3 betta's have gill parasites (My fault for cross contamination) The reason my 3rd didn't get it is because he was in a salt water treatment for the fin rot he had when I bought him. ANYWAYS on the reason I am posting this here... I need to get rid of these in both 5g tanks. What is the BEST way to disinfect a 5g tank? Since salt water WILL kill them could I just used heavily concentrated salt water to clean everything? I am WAY to nervous to used bleach PLUS on the gravel bag it said NOT to bleach the gravel so i am at a loss. What can I do? (also I have 3 apple snails, will any residue of salt kill them?)
Will be doing this at 12pm (while my daughter naps) so quick answers would be MUCH appreciated!
Well im doing an extremly high salt water soak on everything. I read that if the solution is strong enough you can give your betta's a 30 min dip in asalt bath for parasites... the betta can handle the change but the parasites CANNOT. (which is 4tsp Asalt to 1g of water) so i put like 1million tsp of asalt in some water to soak everything. I think that might work :) I really hope it does.
Bleh its so terrible... Just cured one with fin rot now ive got 2 with gill parasites... but its okay I understand that I am newish to the betta scene and I am bound to have a few problems before everything goes smoothly. I am hoping all of this works! Then I can just enjoy them in all their beauty.
