What kinds of filters?

Hello

I am just asking all sorts of questions today, sorry about that. But, in addition to my question about heating a tank (update, by the way, just bought a hydor 50 w heater from big als. thanks so much), I also need to get a new filter. The one I got (a whisper internal 10 - 30) is much too powerful and creates too strong a current for a betta.

So, what kinds of filters are good for bettas? I have a 10 gallon, and I have some live plant bulbs in it right now, but they haven't started growing yet.

Is there a way to get a stick with lists of what type of equipment are recommended and what to stay away from?? (is it already up and I am blind??)

My first recommendation is to stay away from all Tetra products lol. My filter recommendation is the Aqueon Quiet Flow. Most filters are too strong for bettas so you will have to baffle it. There is a link on how to make a baffle out of a water bottle, but my favorite way is to use an aquarium sponge.

I think you could easily baffle the filter. I would use the sponge method, because its easy, and its another place for benificial bacteria to grow. Just place a filter sponge on the outtake, and wrap an elastic band around it.
