Outrageous AB shipping?

Two years ago i bought a fish off AB and i remembered it being pricey.. but not THAT pricey... I just inquired a shipping price and its going to be $25.00 for the fish plus $40.00 to ship right to my door?! meaning $65.00 for 1 fish? I just feel like this is a lot more crazy then when i did it last time..

That sounds normal, I actually expected it to be more.. Are you getting it shipped from within the US or from Thailand or something?
Either way, I have never used AB (not yet ) but I deal with shipping stuff DAILY at my job, I'm the only one in the office who does it, and betta's are shipped by overnight services, which are priority, so they are the most expensive.
I live in Canada and shipping to the middle states of the US overnight delivery, depending on how heavy/big the shipment is, can cost me anywhere from 150-400 dollars, unless it's just a letter or something, but usually its about the size/weight box a betta would come in.. and ends up around $200... (from Canada to US)
so in my opinion, $40 is a pretty good deal for overnight, even if it is within the states!

Just read your stuff now... Ontario, hmm. Okay I'm in BC.. where is the betta being shipped to you from? Priority shipping within Canada can still be expensive, and depending on WHERE in Ontario a you are, it can be more than say it would if you lived in Toronto. (or maybe u are, but u get the picture!) >_<

Haha im actually in Ottawa and the canadian transhipper is apparently in quebec.. which is literally right here! Lol i was just shocked last time the transhipper was in Niagara falls... maybe some province has something to do with it? I really like this female.. i just dont know if shes worth $65.00 :P ( i know im so mean D: lol)

That sounds like a pretty normal shipping cost, I'm also in canada and I just payed $156 to have 6 fish shipped to me.
I don't think $40 is to bad, I'm guessing you would be shipping with David? if so he is awesome, he got my fish all the way to BC safe and sound.

Yikes... that crushes my dreams for ever getting a fish off AB then.. Lol My husband would absolutely die if i spent that much on ONE fish.

Haha the fish is $25.00 but shipping is $40.00 to my house so basically for one fish it will cost me $65.00... mind you its $40.00 for up to 6 fish.. but then id be paying $85.00 for 2 fish. Haha im glad to see this is the norm... but do i want to do that :P
