Dividers Question

I am dividing a 10g and thinking about having a male on one side and my female on the other side. Can you do that? I am buying my dividers so they won't be able to see each other but I looked at the reviews and apparently they aren't very stable. But they are the only ones I can find for sale! Im not sure about buying them.... What do you guys think? If not, how do you make your own? Thanks!

You can keep them together this way.
I had a terrible time finding the proper base for my dividers... could not find the report covers.
So, I went to Home Depot and got this:
http://www.homedepot.ca/webapp/wcs/s...k=P_PartNumber
I have 1 sheet of mesh but it will fit 2 is you want less visibility.
I just cut it to size, glued it with aquarium silicone and placed the mesh I had already bought. Very simple and CHEAP!
My mesh is black and the endcap only came in white so I used some black electrical tape to cover the endcap from the outside of the tank... very clean look!
I got the mesh at Hobby Lobby for less than a dollar per sheet, the silicone will be the most expensive but it goes a long way.

You can keep them in the same divided tank. I do and have had zero problems!

I have a store bought divider in my 10G and it works great. They certainly aren't cheap, but..you're only buying one.
I divided mine when it was already set up and planted which was a PITA! So...if you can put the divider in when the tank is dry it would be much easier.

I find it quite sturdy :)

I have 2 tanks with the dividers the first I set up after the rocks were in and it does not sit right I have 2 females in there and they flair at each other every so ofter but not much. The other tank I set up the divider before anything went in which made it very easy I have 2 males in there and I can barley move the divider so I am not worried about them so much.

I got the divider at Pet Smart for 9.99

Sorry for the big pics did not resize them but the first is 1 of my females looking at the divider the second is 1 of the males

I paid 16$ for mine, then made the other. the store bought ones are alot sturdier, especiallt if you dont want to dry the tank out and glue the dividers in :)

Instead of report holders (I couldn't find them either at Walmart) got to the poster section and you can get the poster holders. It's the same thing, but they're longer and you can cut to size.
