Another stupid question from me. :)
I've had Hiccup, a red veiltail, for about 4-5 weeks now, and I upgraded him to a 2 gallon bowl, and am using a heating pad with a few towels in between as a temporary heater. But, when I cleaned his bowl today, I noticed something.
He had metallic silverish-gold spots on his face and by his fins that weren't there a few days ago. I heard that Velvet could be a yellow-ish color and that you can tell when you shine a flashlight on the fish's scales, but when I did that, it turned to a gold-silver-turquoise iridescent color, so I assumed it wasn't Velvet (I hope it's not). He's had a little bit of turquoise iridescense on him since I bought him, but this isn't the same color, and he's still lively and bubblenesting, so I don't think he's sick. I find this odd, because I've heard of bettas changing color slightly, but never randomly getting metallic spots. Is this unusual?
