well the 6 bay tank I have was a temp borrow off a friend who's betta recently died, i was going to buy the glass to get my bf to MAKE me six bay but then it hit me.
i dont need the 6 bays yet. My male 8 bays had two spaces open (three while dastans in QT but im not filling his spot) ive got 8 males so i dont need seperate male tanks. Bond and Agent moved into the 8 bay tank tonight and they are loving it.
Sooo my female planted tank isnt big enough for MORE females so in my outting to get gravel for the 8 bay i picked up a $30 5.2 gall (same size as the planted tank.) and i have more gravel to match the other tank and i also picked up a lovely bit of drift wood. im currently seeking moss for it and plants for the tank. it will be set up by the weekend to start cycling, then in three or four weeks Lexi, Rayne, Caela and Ailie will move in.



THEN


I will buy another tank, either another 5 gal or something BIGGER.
IF i buy a BIGGER tank, Ill transfer all seven ladies into the bigger and then I can use the other 5 gals as split tank or spawning tanks :)

the 8 bay?

the eight bay is 500mm wide x 250mm High X 450mm Deep
it has 100mm at the back as one long section for heater/filter/rainbar and the remaining 350mm is divided into two (175mm per bay depth)
Across the tank (500mm) is divided into four (125mm) per bay
total water: 56.3 liters = 14.5 gal

Bay dimensions are 5''w X 7''h X 9.6''d
Total water: 5.7liters = 1.5 gal per bay

ALSO the dividing glass between the bays sits 3-4 mm off the bottom, using a chunky gravel ill prevent fish getting their fins sucked under.
(i notice fish will sleep on the bottom and the filter pushes them to the divider and their fins slip under the glass, i added my gravel yesterday)

That's awesome. I wish I had the time, space, and cash to do something like that. If I end up switching rooms, I'll have a larger closet (wide and shallow, doors removed of course) for more tanks. In the meantime, I'll have to stick with my three tanks until my 5.5 is occupied.
