Creek rocks

Can I place rocks from the creek in my yard in my 5 gallon? It will be limestone.

Limestone will cause an increase in pH. Also, if the creek runs through a populated area, I would be concerned about possible toxins leeching from the rock once introduced to your tank.

Some safer rocks to use, are things like granite, pebbles and lava rock.

Isn't lava rock to rough for a betta? I have some in my cichlid tank and those things are ROUGH!!!

Both the rocks AND the cichlids - LOL!!!!

Thank you for your answers. I posted that question and then went to the creek to find me a few little rocks to make a shelter for my new otto. I had in my mind that it was going to be fine. Came back in and saw the posts......needless to say I am so happy for the quick response. Thank you agian.
Now if I can figure out if the otto and Goliath are going to get along. It is touch and go right now. I might be making a return trip to LFS.
