It's not gross. I can't take picture now because it's not feeding time and I don't "thaw" my food until I'm ready to use it, keeps it fresher.
With all those you mentioned, I use the same technique which has worked beautifully for me and it minimizes waste.
All those food come in packets divided in cubes. I take one frozen cube and place it in a little 1/2cup container with a tiny bit of water. I then swish the cube round and round until enough food separates and place the rest of the cube in a ziplock bag back in the freezer.
I pull out my tweezers (only works with BS and Bloodworms) and feed my bettas one or two critters at a time.
Daphnia is a little messier so I only feed it to my fry using the same method to thaw but I just add the water in the container to their tank, wait a couple of hours and then do my water change.
