Color changing

Hi guys, Flib here again with another problem with another friend's betta fish!

This big fella appears to be changing color. He's supposed to be pretty much solid blue, but he's turning red. Is it normal for them to sometimes change colors when they get older, or could there be a problem with him?

The first picture is him and the next one is his friend, who is pretty much the same color as the first one usually looks.

lots of people get a betta and love its colour then its colour changes. this just looks like red wash coming through nothing to be alarmed over.

I agree with Abby, color change is normal. If the betta was getting dull, clear and loosing his color, then there is cause for concern. Food also will affect color, like brine shrimp I think enhances reds.

I expect a betta to be pale until after it is brought home, but he was already solid blue.

I dont think hes changing color, I think what youre discribing is a paling in color due to stress or bad health. The chance of a sold-colored older betta (non marble) to go lighter and less illustrious in color as a permanent "color change" is slim.
Make sure the water is warm enough and that his water is clean, conditioned and he is being fed a good, solid diet.

If the owner of this fish asked no questions, I guess the breeder would tell no lies. Don't ask don't tell seems to be the mantra these days.
