Columanaris?

Ok, I first thought my betta had fungus, but i looked around about Columanaris and saw this picture that looks exactly like my poor betta..




I already lost one betta to this I dont want to lose another. So far ive done a 100% water change the past 2 days with aquarium salt. Today I bought this fungus clear which has Nitrofurazone.

Will this be enough to cure my betta?

Right now the temp is around 76-78 degrees.

No, columnaris is bacteria NOT fungus. You need anti bacterial medication, not anti fungal. When doing the aquarium salt treatment you need to do the 100% water change every day.

That looks like columnaris. I would get some anti bacterial medication. Lower the temp to 76 degrees, quarantine him into a smaller container for ease of treatment.

The only thing I could get was Melafix... Im not sure if it will cure it, but Its all i can do....

Melafix will fight bacteria, but members on here are iffy about using it since it has been said to cause kidney damage.

Yeah I read some pros and cons before I bought it, but thats all they had.... But thank you very much for your replies I really appreciate them!!!

I would try maracyn 1 and two. Petsmart sells this.

The closest petsmart/petco is 60 miles away.

I would start the melafix, but make sure you read the directions and dose it very carefully.
