Is it okay to keep a Koi in a 10 gal?

I'm just wondering, I'd like to have one.

If it can't, then I won't get one. I'll wait for the future day when I can keep one in a proper koi pond.

I read that they are similar to goldfish, so I wasn't sure.

...This was probably a dumb post.....

No, I'd say not. They get very big (not sure if there is a species that stays small, but I doubt it...) and they need quite a bit of room to grow.

No. You will need a pond for just one.

You could have a baby in a 10 gallon for a month or two, but eventually you would have to upgrade to atleast 200 gallons.

It would be ok to use a 10 gallon as a quarantine tank for a very small koi, but all koi really require a pond.... or at least a 100 gallon tank. Koi get huge, and can be very long lived fish in ponds.

Agree with what everyone else has said.

I'd love to have a koi pond one day.. one with live plants in and all around it.
