Should add nothing has changed in his tank, his behaviour hasnt changed hes still eating and happy, he went nuts wriggling when i approached the tank this morning, i was just thinking about all my fish dramas and he is the only fish ive had sick, hes had a ru in with the snail and lose some scales, hes had a fungus and now popeye, the only OTHER issue ive HAD as yet is, fin damage, one arrived damaged, benny and melvin ate (melvins) dorsal (benny) all his fins, and benny attacked agent 11. so beside fin damage ive only had dastan SICK poor mite :/ but hes happy and didnt mind being cupped and QT'd he was still wriggling at me when i moved his tank and covered it lol

I really appreciate this thread!
Ahem- since you're sharp on diagnosing this sort of thing - would you kindly take a look at my guy and tell me if he's heading to popeye land?
He's presently in a hospital tank w. Epsom salts (for constipation/possible sbd)

Thanks!

Yeah, that's popeye. :l Poor dear.

I won't tell you how to treat it since I have a bad history with popeye, but good luck!

K2ofcu - that does look like popeye, although some dark fish do get white rims around their eyes as they age. It's not always possible to get a better picture, I know, but if you could, that would be great.

Thanks very much- sorry for the lousy picture (BBerry phones are ok but the phone stinks).
The eye swelling seems to have decreased, but there's a 'whiteness' around his eyes that didn't seem to be there before. He's in an Epsom salt regiment right now for constipation (per OFL), and it's also the treatment she recommends for popeye anyway (and he does seem to be improving- though he caused me heart failure by seemingly sloughing off his slime layer on day 4 of the regiment! )

Thanks again!
