betta bump

so i noticed on my betta today that he has a spot on the top of his head... i just added snails and some plants to the tank. he likes to slide under one of the decorations. could this be the cause of it? could it be some kind of growth?

post a pic but it is either a wound from sliding under the the decor or possibly ammonia burn. the snails dont have anything to do with it except when you add new fish, plants, or creatures the ammonia goes all over the place.

Plants get rid of ammonia, not add more. It could be a tumor, or ich if it is white. It could also be head damage. We really need a pic to tell.

hm, its hard to get a pic because it looks normal... its a red spot. he seems to be acting fine though...

it looks like a bruise...

my ammonia levels are fine (looks like yellowish-greenish... so if i would have to say, it would be 0-0.25ppm at worst)... doing water change tomorrow anyway

it looks like scars, and I am not sure, but it might be spreading. how would he get head damage?

Do you have pictures of what he was before?

It could be a fungus, considering its color. Watch it if it spreads.

Considering you suspected it could be him going under things, Id say that;s more plausible. Check with your (clean, non soaped) hand if there is anything to rub into or under.

Is it directly on the top of his head? Also is it a different color than his body, because it sort of looks like it is? I'm wondering because I've had two fish now develop bumps right on the top of their head that weren't discolored and didn't seem to make them act sick and I just can't figure out what it is. :I
