Question about the rocks in my tank?

I have rocks in the bottom of my beta tank. Most of them are smooth and colorful, but there is a minuscule amount that are odly shaped. (they are like jewels, I bought them because they were pretty.) HOWEVER my beta likes to almost dive straight down into them head first, and I can't seem to figure out why. Every so often he attacks them and makes them fly a little bit, but its not often that he does either of these, just something I've noticed. Is this something I should be concerned about? I don't want him to hurt himself.

Also, I'd like to potentially get a new heater, But I only have a two gallon tank, I don't want something big and clunky. What would you all recommend?

He might see his reflection in them. I think Hydor has a mini heater you could use. Also Tetra Whisper is pretty good. These heaters are preset, though and will only warm your tank by a few degrees.

I recommend either the marineland 10w heater or the marina 10w heater, the hydor heater is a 7.5w and I think the 10w work better.

As for the rocks, take them out and put in something different or just leave it empty to see if he still does the same thing. It could be something about the those rocks, but if he still does it with different rocks or a bare bottom, then maybe we should starting thinking about what else could be causing this.

For my 2.5ish Gal I'm using the marineland 10watt :)

Not too sure about the rocks though, he probably sees something that he likes/dislikes in them. Generally regular fish do that if they think food is there, not sure about Bettas though, they have such colourful behaviours XD
