Red/bloody film over eye?

Hey guys. I have a three way divided 10 gal with two bettas in it that's had an empty space for a while. I was at Petco to pick up some supplies recently, and - as many of you may be familiar with :) - I saw a fish that I fell in love with. I've been calling him Sid.

An hour ago I floated his cup in the empty side of the tank. I didn't want to put him in freely yet, but I wanted him to be at the right temperature. Then under the bright light over my tank I noticed that there's a weird sort of film over his left eye that I didn't see before. I don't know if it's bloody or what, but it's definitely red. Here are pictures:







Compared to the left eye, his right eye is mostly normal. However, it looks like the same reddish film is around the edges of it. Here's a crappy picture of his right eye:



I have absolutely no idea what this could be. :\ Help?

hmmm not Sure about the eye but is it me or is he very short/fat. But I like his little stumpy DT

Yeah, I agree he is very short and fat, hehe. I like his stumpy lil tail too :)

I think that's what an eye looks like when it is blind :(

Thank you, I really like him. And about potential blindness... I've just realized something!

The very first time I saw him in the store I didn't buy him, but I took a picture of him on my phone. I went back five days or so later and he was still there so I decided to get him. But in that picture, I can clearly see his left eye and it has no film or discoloration whatsoever like it has now. :\ Ugh! I wonder what could this be?

Oh jeez. He is laying at the bottom of the cup (still floating) now, panting. I don't really know if there's anything I can do to help him... I'm embarrassed to say that all my QT containers are already occupied.

I know red eyes are a sign Of dropsy. Were I you, id get some salt and meds soon. Try to get it before it's too late. :/
