Throwing up food

I just got a new betta yesterday and I've started by feeding him twice a day with Hikari pellets(the same as I do my other betta that I've had for months). Anyways, after I dropped the three pellets in it took him awhile to figure out there was food and then he went to go eat it. He immediately swallowed it and then spit it back up. He tried again right after but the same thing happened. Does anyone know whats going on? :(

Try soaking and/or cut the pellets in half first before feeding, maybe he's having trouble chewing. Or, he might be picky and doesn't like the taste. Do you have any other food on hand that you could try to feed him?
