I Shouldn't Have Gone With

At first it was a friendly search for grass seed, but it quickly transformed into an adoption event. I knew I should've refused when my dad asked me to go with him to search for the grass seeds and I didn't make a move to resist. Instead of visiting the store for the seeds we went straight to Petco where I begged my dad to purchase a Male HM for me. The only problem was that my dad only had $39 on him and he decided to purchase the betta for me which was $13.99 out of his pocket. We came home with a beautiful new boy and no grass seeds. I feel bad for begging him for the fish because I knew he wouldn't be able to say no to me and that he'd have to wait until next week to purchase the seeds again. I could also tell that he was upset for being unable to say no to me. I feel so very selfish for taking the fish, but my dad doesn't seem upset about it anymore and I don't want to be sad when I've received a new boy. I don't know if I should be glad or sad. Why does every kind of betta besides the CT's have to be so expensive!?

WOW that's crazy expensive! over here it where I live, it depends on
the store. Walmarts are usually $3-$5, same with petsmart. My LPS that
I buy my bettas from is usually $4 for vts, $6 for cts, and $10+ for everything else.

Aw, your Dad sounds so nice. :)

You should let him know you feel bad about it. Just so that he knows you're thinking of him and you realize the trouble it may have caused.

The store I got my first Betta at had a sale on them for $1.50. He's been with me since around New Years, and a happy boy!

The normal prices are I (and this is a rough estimate according to my semi-photographic memory)

VT's- $3.59
CT's- $5.49
and females are I think $2.99 They didn't have a sign up but I believe that's the price the lady said.

There was one other price on the display but they rarely carry anything other than VT's unless specifically ordered.
