Rams and King Betta

So my original stock list was this:

6 Neon Tetras
6 Glowlight Tetras
6 Skirted Tetras
6 Male Guppies
5 Black Kuhli Loaches
1 Bolivian Ram
1 German Blue Ram
1 Angelfish (small, added last to lessen issues with the neons)

But I came across the King Bettas today and I thought, that is a centerpiece fish that would appreciate 55 gallons of bliss! So my new plan would be substitute the angelfish for the king betta. Did some initial reseach, granted it would be another month and a half before this happens. From what little I came across, the seem to be less agressive then some bettas in most peoples cases. The german blue, and bolivian are also thought to be pretty mellow unless mating (hence only 1) but aqadvisor (use for compatability) said do further research. So here I be. Does anyone have any input for this?

Under careful supervision it may work. I would be a little worried about the angel, but it could work.

I'm pretty sure the poster said the Angel would be substituted with a King Betta.

The Rams are somewhat mild tempered. It really depends on the fish and the tank setup.
I have horrible luck with Rams and finally decided to do Kribensis instead..they are really great. I find they stay at the bottom and don't interfere with the mid and higher levels of the tank. The females also turn this fantastic pink/red colour when they are happy and ready to spawn. Beautiful really. (not trying to sway you, just sharing!!)

I much prefer the stocking that doesn't include the Angel. Of course it depends on Bettas temperment, so you'd have to watch carefully and be prepared to remove and rehome anyone should things become too aggressive.

Well its good to hear it could be a possiblity. It's still a down the road thing though, but seeing as how its a 55 gallon I thought I'd have better chances. I really like the king betta's though, very large and pretty. I may end up getting one anyways if I dont put it in there. Who knows, I make these nice perfect stock list, then once I get to the store its basically useless cause I see other things and boom, there go the list lol.

I am definitely interested to see how it goes for you with the king betta. I have one and he seems like a gentle giant. I would like to see how they get along with other species of fish. :)
