Question My Idea - Need Your Advice

Hi Everyone.

I currently have 1 male CT that is in a 1 gallon, I want to upgrade him to a larger tank, but I'm also expecting 3 baby fry and a 5 month old CT female. Here is what I had the idea for -

I'm getting paid this week, and I'll have $80, so I'm going to petsmart and buying a 10 gallon starter kit that comes with a filter, heater, net, hood, conditioner, and food for $53.99 (On Sale).

Here's the part I'm not sure about, I want to get 4 dividers, making 5 sections, one for each betta (When the fry grow out.) Would that be enough space for them? That'll be about 2 gallons per betta. Plus, if I have a female or 2 among those fry, I can put the CT female with them and take out one divider and everyone gets more room. Let me know if this is a good idea. Thanks everyone.

I personally wouldnt divide the 10g more than three times (two dividers)... bettas like more horizontal space, rather than vertical, but thats my opinion ^^

That would still only be 1 gallon per fish. That would be no upgrade for your CT, and there would be too much vertical space, not enough horizontal.

How is that only 1 gallon? If its a 10 gallon tank with 4 dividers, that are evenly put in, that's 2 gallons a section to make 10 gallons total.

What they mean is is you do four sections in a 10 gallon tank they won't have any width room to swim only vertical. so even though it's still two gallons it's not much room for them. only do three sections in a 10 gallon.

you have to think about the measurements of the tank.

A topfin & aqueon kit is 20L"x10W"x12H", you figure 10/5(5 sections) that only leaves you with 2 inches(or whatever the measuring thing is) across, now that's not very wide is it?

Agreed. 2 inches is about the length of the fish, so they only have room to turn around. If you had a 20 gallon long you could divide into five, but with this case you could only divide into 3 sections. :)
