Snail help!!!!

So I bought a snail (I think it's an apple snail) for Percy's tank. On the way home, we had to take a very long stop to get fuel, and all in all the snail was in the shop bag for about an hour and a half. When he was in the bag, he was moving around and was stuck to the side, but since I have put him in the tank he has not moved one bit.
Here is a picture of the little guy. I noticed the woman at the Aquatic Centre just yanked him out of the tank and dumped him in a bag of water, obviously not realising that snails are actually sensitive little critters.



Is he dead or just settling in? He's been in the tank for about half an hour.

probably just settling in (different temps/ph/travelling etc).

My snail did the same thing.I was pretty sure he was dead. I made sure to place him in an area where I would know if he moved or not then went to bed. The next morning I found him on top of some plants moving around and he has been lively ever since.

Don't worry, he's fully active now. I blanched a piece of cucumber in the microwave, put the snail on top of it, and he instantly came out of his shell and started munching on it like there was no tomorrow. He was obviously hungry.

Yay! glad to hear he/she is ok!
I love my snails, they are very interesting to watch. They will climb up to the tallest grass and then jump off and then repeat it again.
but man, do they poop alot!

If you don't have one yet, I highly suggest getting a turkey baster or bulb syringe of some type to help clean up the poo in between water changes.

You're right, they do poo a lot. And munch through entire plants.

Is 'turkey baster' the american word for a pipette? In which case, that seems like a good idea.

Turkey baster is a large pipette used in cooking (get a large enough one and you can use it without getting your hands wet ).
