I've been using aquarium salt from day one. I don't think he could have lasted much more. But since using the betta fix, he seems to be doing a bit better. I have a horrible feeling it is our tap

don't use Bettafix long term. at all. it can damage his labrynth to the point where he won't be able to breath at all. nothing will work automatically, not even salt. if you have the conditioner, use that and change his water as soon as possible.

Just as an FYI I recleaned his tank and used a chlorination in his water, along with the usual flourish he gets and he died. I went to check on him a few hours later and he was still laying there but wasn't moving/breathing. I tried to net him and he didn't move at all. I had a fishy funeral. Jose RIP.

Sorry for the bad news, just figured I'd let people know, thank you for all the help.
