Female Betta and Egg Release

This is my first post but I wanted to thank this forum for invaluable help when I impulsively bought a male betta at walmart in December. Since then I bought a female from Petsmart about 5 weeks ago. "Shakira" is housed in a 2.5 gallon unfiltered tank. Every 7 - 10 days she releases dozens of eggs. The latest round, she released eggs in 10 minute intervals for over 2 hours. She can't see the male in the tank next to her. I'm concerned that the eggs that she doesn't eat could be fouling the water, especially if this happens while I'm at work and not around to clean them out. My question is, is this something that female bettas eventually outgrow or becomes less frequent?

Welcome to the forum.....

Females release and eat the eggs and some don't eat them and even other will absorb them on a regular basis....the uneaten eggs should not cause any water quality issues as long as you are doing your regular twice weekly water changes on the 2.5gal unfiltered tank....1-50% and 1-100% weekly....
