Anyways, I've just noticed some white stuff on the end of my VT's fins. And a bit on his head. He is a tailbiter, So i wondered if it just got infected. But now it looks like cotton. Ill try and get a picture, but what could i do to treat this? He acts normally, swimming around happily and eating. Its just the fin that worries me.
-EDIT-
I just googled a picture of fin rot, and it looks alot more like it.

But I thought you said it was cottony on his head? That is not what fin rot is. Could he possibly have both?
Okay. I have to get the pic on the computer, but its not going to help much. the white stuff has come loose from his fins, and is now floating around his tank. theres a little bit of white on the end of his fin. I think it was a loose piece floating around and i thought it was on his head. So, not im completely confused.
i know what that is. x-X Cup got it a few times after ripping his fins. i treated it with aquarium salt and clean, warm water. change his water, add 1 teaspoon of aquarium salt per gallon of water to a cup(i use warm water in the cup. dissolves the salt faster), and add it to his water slowly, a little at a time, over the course of about 30 minutes. it should clear up by tomorrow. :3 that'll also help clear up any fin rot he may have.
Well, it's possible it's an infection from biting. Brutus appeared to have a cottony fuzz on one side of him after he jumped his tank, and turns out it was just his scales coming off and the area was damaged from the jump. That's all fixed now, but you saying he might have an injury reminded me of when my guy had "fuzz" that was just repairing tissue. I hope he gets better!
