Help w/ Synthesizers?

I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with synthesizers and can recommend a few for me.

I'm mainly just looking for the whole array of sounds- the more, the better! I'd love to create my own, and I'd prefer the synth with a vocoder, but if not, that's okay as well.

Doesn't have to be portable, either.

So far I'm leaning towards the Yamaha s90xs, but I still have some more research to do... Any suggestions?
