So today I purchased a 10 gallon aquarium and purchased 3 extra females, since I already had Jenny and Rapunzel at home. Jenny and Rapunzel, of course, remembered their first encounter when they met Lief for the first time...and Jenny had a lot of suppressed anger for Rapunzel tryin to steal her man! So, naturally, they went at it for a bit and soon Rainbow (one of the three females I purchased today) joins in. Rapunzel takes charge of the tank and is the alpha for a short time being, chasing all the other females around and getting more fin damage as she goes along assuming her role. Jenny comes back for a round 2, as does Rainbow. Needless to say, I turned off all the lights (except what is coming from my laptop) hoping they just go to sleep or at least stop attacking each other. I dont want to wake up to a dead female...I believe they had somewhat established their pecking order and will cease fighting for a while to heal their fins. I added some medication to their tank, so I hope that their fins do some serious healing over night!
