Post Penny Isn't Eating!

Good Morning,

Lately, I have been watching Penny (In my sorority, See avatar) and she hasn't been eating when I feed everyone. I have tried isolating her in a cup and putting food in it, but she wasn't used to the enviroment so she wouldn't eat there. Now she just swims back and forth at the bottom and mid-tank level.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

You could always try changing WHAT she's eating, it could help.

I can't; All of my other girls eat the exact same thing.

What are you trying to feed her?
I agree with xkatieebby
try something different..or try soaking a few flakes/pellets in garlic juice.
I have one fish that will only eat blood worms and flakes and another that will eat anything that falls in the tank.

Is she a newer fish? How long have you had her? If she is new it might just take her awhile to get used to things. If she isn't new to the tank then she may be getting sick or shes stressed maybe?
I hope someone can come along with better advise.
Hopefully she will start eating for you soon! Best of luck.

Sorry to hear about your fish...
I'm curious to learn more suggestions for this too. Our fish passed today. His eating has changed over the last 2 weeks and he stopped eating his flakes. The local feed/seed shop here gave me a variety pack of blood worms, daphnia(?) and something else that looked buggish? Anyhoo. He liked the blood worms at first, but then stopped eating anything all together the last few days. He if we human, I'd say he was depressed. ? He became significantly less active, he stopped greeting me at the top of the tank. The last 2 days he stayed at the top barely moving at all. Today I found him dead at the bottom.

Curious to see what suggestion anyone may have about eating and not eating...

I think you should start new foods: Brine Shrimp, Bloodworms , flakes, pellets... and/or (ew) misquito larvae

Did she eat before? Maybe she has not grown accustomed to floating foods yet? One of my females did this in my sorority setup. Always hung out at mid or the bottom for food scraps.

Took about a week for her to realize.....now she is a pig

Maybe she isn't happy in the sorority. I wonder if she would do better in her own tank.
