Finrot help

I have verifyed my awesome betta brutal fire which some of you have seen has a serious case of finrot I have heard that you can use aquarium salt to treat this unpromising and adverse illness does anyone know how much salt to use in a 1 gallon tank? This would be of great help to me.

thanks for looking,
Ethan

I'm pretty sure you pre-mix the salt in another container, do 1 teaspoon a gallon, and 100% water changes every day. Someone else'll chime in :)

^^^what they said. one teaspoon of aquarium salt per gallon, premix in a cup(i use warm water, because it helps the salt dissolve faster), add to the water slowly over the course of 30 minutes or so, water changes every day, and, if you have any, Indian Almond Leaf helps the fin grow back faster.

What is your source for the humic water? I would probably play it safe and use dechlorinated tap water, with IAL added. You could steep oak leaves instead of IAL, they give off helpful tannins as well, but you have to make sure you find them fallen (can't pick them off the tree) and nobody around you uses pesticides.

Keep the water temp around 77-78; bacteria flourish in warm water, so staying on the cool side of the betta spectrum is best for treating fin rot.

that's an interesting way of doing it i didn't know about. I just get atison's betta spa. it's about $7 a bottle here in chicago but it's a little hard to find. Works pretty well and did well for my guys when they had fin rot last year.
