Question about treating finrot

When treating finrot with epsom salts in a 10 gallon, how often do you need to re-dose it??

And how much should I up my water changes while treating it, if at all?

Thanks.

It might be a lot easier for you to put him in a smaller tank and float it in your 10g. That way, your daily water changes will be a lot easier. You can also always have a gallon of water ready, with aquarium salt and conditioner ready to go, you'll have to mix the aquarium salt in a bottle anyway, you can't just toss it in the tank.

Hmmm, I thought of that but he will be so emo sitting in the half gallon QT.
Still doesn't anwer my question about how often to re-treat the water with the salt or how often to change it in the 10 gal now that he's in treatment o.O
I already put it in so there's no going back now lol

When using epsom salt 1/tsp a gallon, you have to do 100% water changes DAILY, putting in fresh well-mixed treated epsom salt water. Thats why it was suggested you use a small container to float in his tank, much easier to do 100% daily water changes.

Also, arent you supposed to use aquarium salt when treating finrot? I never heard of using epsom for fin rot, just for bloating and things like that...

the LFS owner said it was pretty much the same thing, and they were out of aquarium salt, and i thought it would still be better than using betta fix or something. i know they aren't always too knowledge able but it wasn't some kid working his first job at petsmart or anything like that. plus it was my only option for treating, no other fish stores in the area at all

100% daily.. even in a 10 gallon?
that will mess my cycle, aaaaah!!!!
i guess i will QT him and start the treatment in there tomorrow, that way i can slowly get the water back to un-epsom salted without totally tearing up the whole tank...
what can i attach the qt into the tank with so it wont fall over? o.O

I had to do an epsom salt treatment recently, and I have a 14g, so I attached a 1 gallon thingy to the front corner my tank using duct tape. Just try and make sure the duct tape doesnt touch the water, I dont know if it would harm them or now o.O It's just what everyone says to do. (using the duct tape I mean)
