New to Betta Fish Help!

Hi, My fiancee and I are wanting to get a betta fish and were trying to decide on what kind of home for it. I have this really cool looking Bamboo plant that i've taken care of for quite some time and thought that it would make a really cool looking center piece for a betta home. My problem is that as the tank would require weekly cleaning, I think it would hurt the plant to move it in and out of the rocks several times a week to rinse out the gravel. What do you guys suggest. I really really want to use the bamboo as the focul point but I don't want to kill the plant or skimp on the care of the betta.

Depending on what setup you get you wouldn't have to remove the plant. If you get a nice 5 gallon with a filter you can just do partial water changes weekly so you wouldn't have to disturb the whole set up for a 100%.

Well the minimum size for a betta is 2.5 gallons, so if you can find a bowl that big then great. Unfortunately you really can't cycle that, so you would have to do twice weekly water changes, one 50% and one 100%. In the 100% water change everything would have to be removed. Also bettas need temperatures in the 78-80 range and require heaters, so you have to take that into consideration also.

Yeah bettas need more than just a bowl :)

Also water conditioner/dechlorinator and plants to rest on.

That was really responsible on your part, many people just buy without researching.
