I have a tank that I go at Petcetera. I am not sure how much what it holds but its one of those ones that come with gravel plant betta food and some checmical. I was wonderingi if someone might have any idea how much water it holds.

Take a clean 1 gallon jug and see how many times you can fill the tank up with water using the jug.

No, its not recommended...Maybe you can return it? :D Or get a 2 gallon+ critter keeper. Theyre cheap and work well. Get a heater, too ;)

Its a kind of tank-like container that many members use. They can come in large sizes up to 5 gallons.
they look like this:

There are lots, they can be found often in walmarts and petsmarts, but sometimes dont say their size. To find the gallons, it lwh/231 (in inches).

Rubbermaid tubs (clear) work well. 10 gallons are only 5 dollars!
