update on conditioning

ive given my female her own 'tank' and finally have her eating blood worms. this is the first week of conditioning and ill be purchasing a 20 gallon for breeding this week. Is there any way of telling that the female is actually a plakat? Im told she is but was just curious how you can be sure with females. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks (it was hard to get pics of the male, he wouldnt sit still lol)

I would put something between the tanks so they can't see each other.

Plakat females and veiltail females look alot alike, but the PK female has a shorter fin and more straight along the tummy, while a VT's is longer and isn't as straight along the tummy and is more pointy.

...Did that even make any sense?
From these pictures, your female looks EXACTLY like my female. Same color and everything. (They must be twins! :D Lol).
I'd say she's a veiltail, of course I could be wrong, I'm still learning all of the different tail types.

Edit: Scratch that, looking at the photos some more, I'd say she just might be a plakat female.

You have a PK male right? Look at his tail - the percentage between tail and body. Females should be similar - only her tail is a bit shorter.

VT have much longer tails. True VT have a rather oval shaped tail. While those out crossed to HM may show a wider spread.

It is often difficult to differentiate HM and PK females - specially if the HM has a rather short tail. But in general HM females have longer tails compared to PK. Further a HM's body is slimmer and longer than a PK.

Your picture isn't that clear. I'd say she is either HM or PK (top right picture)

i notice her bottom fin shapes down like a triangle, not like the 'walmart' females. i bought them as a pair im thinking they may even be from the same spawn, will this affect breeding? How would the babies turn out if she is a vt? Ill post some more pics of her so maybe you guys can give me a better idea. thanks for all of your help guys, it means alot!

We need a perfect side view to comment on your female/fish. She is definitely not a VT. And if you bought them as a pair, then she must be PK because the male is surely a PK.
