10g tank mates?

So, I thought about upgrading to a 10 gallon tank recently as petco as quite a nice setup for under 90 dollars.

Could I possibly put neon tetras in first, some ghost shrimp, and then add my veiltail betta afterwards?

I have a 10gal and in it i have 8 Harlequin Rasbora's, 2 zebra snails and my HM. You could totally do tetra's although they are known for tail nipping. I was looking at black tetra's before the rasbora's but I ended up liking them more haha.

I've just heard that they got along good.

How about Cherry Barbs?

Cherry Barbs should really be kept in 20 gallons or larger. I would try rasboras, they are so tiny.

Tetras are known to be fin nippers, so they are iffy when it comes to bettas. Some have had bad experiences, others fine. How about some pygmy cories? You could easily get about 5 to go with your betta.

Hmm I don't think so, from what I have read they prefer colder temperatures.

Both are great. But for cories you would need very soft substrate like sand, as they like to dig and burrow through it.
