Interesting Behavior

Well, the two betta tanks are set up next to each other meaning that Miku and Luka can see each other, but the most odd thing about it is that Luka doesn't flare at Miku. Luka has just tried swimming towards her and Miku is starting to do the same. They've never flared at each other and I'm wondering if this has something to do with the fact that Miku is only a baby. Could Luka be trying to adopt Miku? Is it not normal that Luka doesn't flare at other fish? Do female bettas flare at all?

It might be age, but it also might just be individual personalities. I have Noonie's tank set up in between Duck and Salsa's tanks because I know Salsa is used to Noonie (they don't flare at each other), but Salsa, if he was next to Duck would probably spend all day flaring wildly at him. Duck's pretty mellow, and Noonie is just chill as can be, so he's a good mediator, so to speak. :P Noonie rarely flares, Duck is the fireball that likes to show off.

I always assumed that two bettas would flare at each other because they don't like strangers, but I was proven wrong by Luka and Miku. People don't lie when they say that fish have personality.
