Top Fin Torn

My betta swam through a plant in his tank and he apparently got stuck. I found a piece of his top fin still stuck in the plastic plant. What should I be doing to help him out? He is in a 2 gallon tank with the water temp around 74. I just did a water change today.

First of all, get rid of the plastic plant. Looks like it's too sharp for him. If you want to have "fake" plants, get silk plants instead or you should buy easy growing floating plants like hornworth or egeria instead. Cleean water and good protein rich food should help healing.

Yeah, silk plants are best. The water temp is on the cold side, he needs to be at 78-82F. :) Keep his water super clean! Just curious, how often do you do water changes?

I agree, that plant should be taken out and the water is too cold.

I change his water every 4 days.

I would do 100% water changes every other day with 2 teaspoons of aquarium salt. Once he is healed, you should do two 50% and one 100% water change a week.

just one more thing, after he is healed, stop using salt
