Smile hi everyone. new here

I've been reading for a couple of days. Lots of great info on here!
My 5yr old daughter and I were given a betta about a yr ago.
I was told they just needed food and occasionally add a lil water.
Needless to say, she ...the betta....lasted about 10 months.
When my daughter asked me for another I started my research.
So Sunday I purchased 2 males. 2 three gal tanks, heaters, and stuff
for the guys. Names are Billy and Slinky. Will post pics in a bit.

I'm so glad you've decided to do the research and care for your new boys, they'll really thank you for it and they're lucky to have you two to take care of them!!

Not sure of the correct name but they have long flashy tails. I can't seem to upload from
My phone. Have to try from work tomorrow but they are both beautiful.

I do have a question...the bottom one, there seem to be lots of tiny bubbles in his tank. Not the ones they make but in general all over the tank. What is that from?

Welcome! :D You're boys are gorgeous!
Don't worry about the bubbles, that often happens with new water. You can leave it and they'll go in a couple days or you can get something to sweep them off, just a gentle touch will move them. ^^

Thanks! I have tons of questions. I never thought I would be "into" Bettas! I read that they can grow pretty big but I've never seen a big one. I've also heard they can live many years but most I've seen last only about a year. Off to research and shop on ab. lol

Beware of AB, it will suck you in and never spit you out! :P
Some bettas can get pretty big, most I'd say are relatively small. I saw a picture of a giant betta that was the size of someones hand! :o I'm always nervous about the giants though, I worry that they're unhealthy do to their abnormal size, but really, I have no clue. A good long life for a betta would be about 3-5 years, but there's always the exception. ^^ I always liked fish, but never thought about owning one until introduced to betta fish... they're like dogs of the fish world, and they're just as good at begging for food as any dog, haha.
Anyway, have fun on your new journey! :D
