Do I Need to Be Worried?

The last couple of days, my Ninja's fins are clamped a little bit, but I'm not sure why.

Housing

What type of food do you feed your betta fish? flakes, bloodworms
How often do you feed your betta fish? flakes once a day, worms once a week, fast one day a week. Going to look for pellets at the other fish store tomorrow.

Maintenance

What percentage of the water do you change when you perform a water change? About 35%.
What type of additives do you add to the water when you perform a water change? Prime

Symptoms and Treatment
How has your betta fish's appearance changed? minor clamping of fins, no other changes
How has your betta fish's behavior changed? still active and swimming around, eats well, seems a bit more timid.
When did you start noticing the symptoms? yesterday

I don't know if I need to be concerned. I've had the fish for 3 weeks and this is the first time I've seen him clamp at all. When I turn out his light, his tail unclamps right away and slowly clamps up a little again. My kids (4 and almost 7) have been making a ton of noise lately and have been in his room more so I don't know if that affects him.)

I would say he is fine, but I would just keep his conditions in prime standards and keep his light off. he should be fine, but if this consists for a while I would be concerned. To me it sounds like he was just startled when you turned off the light so thats why he unclamped his fins. keep us updated and try to post a pic.

I did turn out his light a little while ago. I will try to get a photo. He comes to the front of the tank when I'm standing there although sometimes it's tough to get a clear photo.

Also Ninja's fins tend to fan out and seem better when he's eating.

see he is probably fine. just keep him clean and keep an eye on him. good luck!!

I went to Petsmart this morning and got Topfin pellets. I turned his light on (much later than usual) and fed him. He's looking better this afternoon, still occasionally clamping but starting to fan out more again.

Is it possible his clamping is the result of some poor quality food?

I don't think so unless he is brand new, then he is probably just adjusting to his new home and you probably don't feed him the same food as the pet store did.
