i am planning on getting another setup or two tomorrow (going to petsmart for the first time EVER instead of my LFS)
what do you recommend as the best 5-6ish gallon betta tank?

They have a regular glass aquarium with a black trim. It's simple and stylish once it is fully decorated. I have a 2.5 gallon tank that is the exact same, only smaller, and a 10 gallon tank same design. Both work great :)

The MiniBow isn't a bowl >.> The one I have is great! It's just an acrylic tank with the filter medium in the top.

The minibow is a bow front tank kit. I've had problems with the light in my 2.5 gallon minibow; other than that I like it a lot. But I don't have any experience with the 5 gallon. The walmart 5 gallon kit is just a standard looking tank, but it's good price for tank, hood, and filter. I don't have any experience with other 5 gallon tanks/kits, but I do think it's a fine tank and a pretty good deal.

I have a 5 gal mini bow and love it. I got mine used for $10. Those things new are pricy! I have 10 of the 5 gallon tanks off of fish.com in the clearance section (can't remember the brand right now) that are only $15 and they come with a filter and hood. I just wouldn't recommend using the plants or decor it comes with. All my males seem to love it and I love the price!

I don't think I've seen a 5 gallon hood in stores. You can definitely order them online though, I recently bought one from a seller on amazon. They're pricey though...about as much as the walmart or fish.com tank kits!
