you JUST have 5? psh. i've seven, and wanting more~ i'm sad that i can't say i have 8 anymore. D: only thing stopping me from getting more? no 2 gallons left. >3> then again, i have two 1 gallons that are just laying around~ and, females don't cost as much as males~~~~~~~~~
hehehe, females are so tiny most of the time a gallon seems like a good amount of space for them. i have 2 of my females in 1 gallons and they are both pretty dang happy, and one of them is in a 2 gallon. last night i had a HUGE freak out for like 15 minutes, i could not find Rosalind in her 2 gallon for the life of me, SHE WASN'T ANYWHERE, i looked for literally 15 minutes in her bowl and could not see her, so then i started looking all over the ground, behind the curtain her bowl is near, under the thing its on, everywhere, because i actually thought she had jumped out.
i tapped the glass, nothing.
finally, 15 minutes later, she just swims out of SOMWHERE, still no idea where she was, all funny faced like i had totally disturbed her peace. lol
xD well, Chappy has 3 gallons all to her teeny self. she's an HMPK, not quite a year old just yet, and i raised her from a month-old fry. <3 <3 i got her around the 4th of July last year, a few days after Weiss passed(my first white betta, my first HMPK, and the bugger that got me hooked on HMPKs. he's my avatar fishy. :3). Lulu was my first girl, and actually hates bigger tanks. o.o she was in a 2 gallon KK after my CT girl, Freya, passed, and hid all the time. .____o after moving her back to her 1 gallon, she seems perfectly happy. and, Caroline's happiest in her 1.5. i had her in a 1 gallon triangle tank like Lulu for a day, to let the filter in her 1.5 run though like it says on the box, and she was so upset. D: she likes her natural-looking 1.5 best, i suppose. x3c
My BF didn't 'get' why I was interested in fish, either. At first, he thought I was nuts, then a hoarder, then frivolous with my money, then trying to re-live my past (I grew up with my Mom keeping two tropical tanks - a 20 and a 50 gallon), then irresponsible.
By the time the sorority was fully established, my BF - finally - accepted the fact that taking care of the fish is an important outlet for me and I was going to do it, no matter how much he whined about it. Heck, he has two cats that puke hairballs and miss the litter box! They make less sense than the fish do, and we keep them around, lol...
