Suggestions on this plant?

I bought this plant over a year ago at a local petco in one of those tubes. Yes, I know most of the time those are not true aquatic.

Well when I first bought this plant it looked way different. There was no large leaves like now. It was mostly stems reaching out with an oval shape leaf at the end. All of the stems have died and now I have this out of it. I think it is a beautiful plant and I would love to get more since I am planning on converting my tank to a full complete live planted tank. Every time I go to petco I look for it and I think they may not carry it anymore.

The plant is the bright green one next to the Java Fern.

Any one have suggestions on this?

Is it a variety of wendtii plant?

I have bronze wendtii in my goldfish aquarium. It also comes in green.

I 'think' it's an amazon sword.

That's what I said. Of course, I'm not all knowing of plants. :P I have one too and they're really pretty when they get going strong. Yours is a really nice one.

Do you know how large they get? I'm changing my 55 gallon big time. I want to get fine gravel, do away with my under gravel filters and make it completely planted.

Mine is about 6 inches but I've read that they get up to 8.

Edit: Sorry, I'm wrong. I read in my book, 20 inches. :)

Valisneria get pretty big. They look like big long ribbons. They're really very pretty and easy to take care of. The ones I got from Sweet aquatics were already tall enough for my 16 tall tank and now they're rooting and shooting up new plants all around.

Alright I'll look into those.
I am planning on redoing my 55 gallon in may once I am done with my college courses for the summer.
I have to switch out the substrat, which will be a pain.
