New Fishy

Hi everyone,

i just brought a pretty blue betta "Luan Rio" Thursday. As i am a total newbie, was wondering if i can ask my totally stupid (to the experts) questions here.
I have put him wth a fake plant and some gravel and a fake fishy just to have fun with. he doesnt flare at it, but in fact kisses it :P.
But sometimes, he just spams, swims here and there for no particular reason, and some times hides at the plant feet. howmuch ever i try getting him out of there he goes back there. i feed him one bloodwrom thingy everyday, once.
the globe is around 1 Gal.
i have not yet shown him a mirror so dont know his flaring behaviour yet.
he seems quite content till now, but should i be worried about his spams and moody hinding behaviour.

hey welcome to the forum. We around her prefer 2.5 gal or more for tank size and he will need a heater they like 76-83f temps.
Rather then blood worms as his meal use them once or twice a week 2-3 a week as a treat ad feed him Betta Pellets (little ball things) i feed 3-4 a night some people feed 2 in morning and 2 at night.

Tank? he is kept in a Bowl...
and the pet store i bought him from gave me just the bloodworms to feed him.
i ll serach for the one u suggested.

For the temperature, its already very Hot in India, so i warm the water, whn i do the water change or the atmospheric temperature is enough for him?
Also, should i do a 50% water change today and then 100% change the following Monday?

he needs water changes with water conditioner added
a heater
a bigger tank if possible
feeding pellets not blood worms daily, also his diet can include pellets flake live and frozen foods (brine shrimp etc)

1 gal is normally used for quarantine or when ur fish get sick. bettas need bit more space.
Pet stores usually only give enough info to get a sale.
i dont do FULL 100% water changes i do 25-50% changes where necessary ( my tanks dont need frequent changed because they all have filters)
1 gal tanks require daily water changes or every two days BUT its a MUST because of ammonia.


the pet store prob suggested the 1 gal, and the feeding schedual
most of the time i take the pet store info with a grain of salt and toss it to the wind.
my pet stores are horrid at betta info, ive almost been thrown out of one here because i disagreed with their information lol

and will try and get him the tank and heater as soon as possible.

the pet store was asking me to go for a smaller bowl... i thot my Luan should get ebuf space so bot the next bigger one.
And everyday 50% change?
i havnt changed the water for 4 days now!?!?! will it harm him?
will 50% change be good enuf for him???

and why does it spams and swims in the globe speedily sometimes? is anything in the globe freaking him??
