Still Worried :(

Hi guys!
Sorry for posting again about this, but my female betta is still acting strange :(

I got her on Sunday morning.. I have a 2.5 gallon tank with a heater and the water is perfect (I did one of those 5 in one tests).

I fed her on Monday and she ate like two pellets, however when I tried to feed her last night, she wouldn't eat anything.

She also stays at the bottom of the tank either face down in one of the corners (it's a hexagon tank) or underneath one of the plants.

She literally looks like she's dead! I've only seen her swim around maybe 5 times over the past three days..

Anyone have any advice? I'm nervous about her :((

It is frustrating when you don't know what's wrong.

What is the temperature in your tank? Cool water will make a betta lethargic. You want the thermometer to read between 76 and 82*.

Have you tried a water change? How often do you change the water.

Does she appear bloated? Is she tipping to one side or having other buoyancy issues? Any noticeable difference in color? No visible parasites or fungus right?

Hello everyone!

@Canuck Fins The temperature is at 78* I have not tried a water change yet.. I'm nervous that I'll put more stress on her?

@LolaQuigs She does not appear to be bloated, discolored or have any fungus or parasites. She doesn't appear to have boyancy issues although I guess maybe going face down into the gravel is? I'm not sure

:((

A water change doesn't need to be stressful for the fish. If you got her Sunday, a 2.5 gallon tank would likely be due for a water change. Ammonia levels can build up quickly.

The all in one test you used, is that test strips or a liquid test? The liquid tests do tend to be more acccurate.

As well, if you've only had your fish for a few days, it may still be getting used to the new tank. Good luck! :)

Bettas can go for days without eating. Try not to worry. If she won't eat, at next feeding time, try again and remove it after a few minutes if she doesn't eat. She's probably still settling in. Pellets are good. :)

I'm so sorry. I lost my first fish Scout two days after we brought him home and that was tough.
