Discolored Chin & Bloating.

The pH in his tank is good.
He lives in a 5.5 gallon tank with a filter.
I give hime a partial water change once a week.

He recently developed some bloating. After a night it seemed to go down and I stopped worrying. A day later it was worse. I contacted a local fish specielty store and was told to purchase a pea and feed him some cooked portions, which I did.

That made the bloating even worse.
that has gone down some in the last 2 days.
He has also been fasted for the last 3days.
He is still bloated.

The chin discoloration started small on the base of his chin and has spread across the whole lower portion of his chin over 5 days.

Also, he is active and perky.
His other fins are lovely and red as always.
They show no signs of pinecone effect or other discolorations.

What are his natural colors and what color is the discoloration.
How much do you feed him a day?
By bloating, do you mean you can see his guts against his skin or is he ballooning out. Use a flashlight to see through him.

I feed him 3-5 frozen variety bloodworms a day.
I think its bloating...it was balloining type effect the first day but now doesn't look like that.
I will take a flashlight to him in a few minutes I am eating dinner.

His water is fairly cold due to my pilot light being out for my heating... I plan to purchase him a tank heater in the morning...could this contribute?

He is red with some tiny bluish specks on his body.
His chin is turning a steel grey/white color.

I will post pictures after dinner.
