Wink My "ginger" kids

I got some decent pictures of my 3 red boys whom I've been calling the "red heads".. which my roommate so lovingly turned into "the ginger kids" Sad to say the name is sticking LOL.

I have 3 males and 3 females. I tried getting pics of the girls but they weren't in the mood I guess so it's just the boys. All 3 look very nice IMO.. I will probably keep the best two to breed and sell the third, same for the females.

They'll be 11 weeks old on Tuesday (if the hatch date provided by the seller is correct). Still pretty small but eating good and flaring like demons.

This is the nicest boy so far. Already has 180* spread and is the darkest in color, I'm hoping he'll turn red but if not I still think he's breedable.

This is the boy with the wonky ray that I originally thought was a female.

This is the 3rd boy. He's looking very nice, not quite at 180 yet but he's still very young so I'm not worried

I'll try to post pics as they grow and fin out. Currently they're in 32oz jars (water changed daily). Once they grow up a bit they'll go into larger tanks.

How awesome that you ended up wtih 3 pairs!
They are looking great and I'm sure they will develop great finnage!
I love how their first dorsal ray is already almost standing 90 degrees.
Very nice kids... I like "the redheads" better LOL!

Thanks guys :) I'm very happy with the quality of these guys (and at $5 a piece!). The females also look gorgeous, all 3 are cambodian and have excellent branching, I think one might even go 180 as she get's bigger.

Thanks :)

I'm not sure what to make of the guy with the weird ray.. if that's even what it is. It's not growing out of his side, that's just the angle of the picture causing it to look like that. TBH I'm not sure what it is whether it's from an injury in grow out, weird genetic deformity, rosetail... I just don't know and I can't get a decent look at it because he never stops moving. Most likely he is going to be the one I sell because of that deformity. I don't want to risk breeding that and have it show up in the fry.

As of right now #3 is my favorite. He's got very clean lines and smooth edges and great deportment.

I won't name these guys. I have 2 rules when it comes to fry and names... 1. Don't name them because I never know which ones I'll sell and 2. don't name them because something can always go wrong and they could die... best to keep a certain amount of distance until they're fully grown. Once I choose who I'll be keeping (which will either be 2 males and 2 females or 1 male and 2 females) then I may name them.

Here's some pics and a video from today. I'm REALLY liking this male. If he continues going like he is he'll definitely be the one I keep.
