I don't know how that could possibly be 5 gallons. It's smaller than my 5 gallon tanks. Next time you change the water, do a jug test. Use a 1 gallon jug to fill it. It's much more accurate.

Okay, if you say so! :) I will do that. But either way, it's a good size tank! :D

Found a little cave?

Found a little cave thing I think should work. It's about 3" deep and 3" wide. I think it was used for bamboo ages ago? But I rinsed and scrubbed it down twice with soap and dried it, so I know it's clean. Don't worry, I rinsed it super duper well. Does this look alright? Also, Do you think Dumbo will be badly injured by the filter like Butterfly? The same filter did it, but I don't have any other filters and this tank just looks better (and it will be easier on me) with it. ;)

Aw I think he is going to absolutely love the cave :D If you are worried about the filter I would baffle it. I use to have that same one in Sikus 2.5 G and had to baffle the heck out of it. I eventually took it out when I learned it was best to just do frequent water changes. I rubber banded filter sponge to the intake, and made the intake hole (under the cartridge) a little smaller with some AQ glue. I bet Dumbo feels like he is on extreme makeover home addition! He is living the good life!

I hope so! He looked hysterical checking it out after those pics were taken. You know how bettas kinda go "huh, this is new?" And they stare at it upside down and all over examine it? He was more like "WOW! That's new!!!" And he just stared at it for minutes. :D I don't have an filter sponge. ;/ Where can I get a little bit of it? :) And haha, he went from a 1 gallon to this 5 gallon (I think? :P) and he got a new silk plant on day one. Day 2 he got a new filter and a new cave. I hope he's happy! And I really really hope the fin rot heals. :)

That's absolutely a three gallon, I am sure because I have the same plant (the orange and green one-it's awesome for bettas!) and can tell by how it fits in there as I have a 3 and 6 gallon kritter keeper myself.
I have a test kit and my three gallon needs 100% water changes every four days. ;)

Okay then, so sorry guys! 3 gallons then. :) Still, it's at least 3x bigger than his old vase! And it now has a filter. :) I took a gallon out this morning (used 1 cup and measured out 1 gallon! Took forever! :)) and then replaced it with clean, conditioned water. The water is absolutely crystal clear, and Dumbo is fine. No tears or rips or new shreds, just the edges of fin rot still. I hope he gets better! :)

Hahaha! There were some bubbles on the opposite side of the tank away from the filter, I hope he starts building a bubblenest soon! :) He's a wierd betta, he usually won't build a bubblenest until a few days after a 100%. :)
On a more sober note, Butterfly managed to tear his anal fin again on a silk plant. This fish! Did a 100%, hopefully that helps. The tears aren't that bad, they should be totally gone in about 5 days. But still! I hate going backward.
