Question skinny fish

I don't know if it's a problem or not, but my fish looks really skinny to me. I don't recall him being so skinny before. I feed him as much as I normally do, but lately he's looked thinner. Is there any disease or parasite that would cause him to lose weight while still eating his normal amount?

I know internal parasites and cause your fish to loose weight. Do you mind me asking how much you are feeding him?

I usually feed him about 7 micro pellets a day. He doesn't seem sick...he's still really active, he just looks thinner.

It's hard to tell if he is actually thinner or not because he's got a dark body, which makes it harder to see changes. Plus, he won't stay still whenever I go near the tank so I can get a good look at him.

And I don't feed him one day each week.

Hmmmm... well I am no expert, but I dont think I would worry too much if he is still acting normal. Sounds like you are not starving him to death! If you notice a dramatic change though, you may want to treat for internal parasites. I posted a thread a while back asking if anyone recommended a certain medication for internal par. and got no response. Its a little vague when you do your research. However, I am not sure you should worry about that just yet. Good luck!

Jungle labs makes anti-parasite tabs that are pretty easy to use.

If he's very active I would try feeding him more pellets over the day, maybe add in a few in between feedings. Tango eats a LOT. Everyone here would say I overfeed him but he's very, very active, flaring and patrolling pretty much all day long. He was losing weight on 7 pellets a day. I think he gets something like 10 - 15 now, spread out over a day. You can try that and if he bloats, cut back.

What kind of micro pellet are you feeding? A small pellet means you need to feed more than you would a normal pellet.

What I do is feed each of my fish as much as they'll eat in about 1 minute. At the end of every meal my fish have nice round bellies and I know they've eaten enough. If they don't have a round belly I give them more food... if they look overfed I fast them the next day.
