Filter help?

So I finally got my two boys in my cycled 10 gal. with a divider. I'm having a problem with the filter though. I made a baffle with the instructions on here, but there still seems to be a lot of surface disturbance, and I don't want it to bother the little guy on that side :/ Also, when he goes in near the filter, it pulls him in and I'm afraid of him getting stuck on it and his poor fins will get ripped or something. Is there something else I could use for a filter baffle, and is there something I can use to stop him from getting pulled in to the filter when he gets too close? Thanks!

On the intake of the filter I ran this. My male hasn't had a problem and he swims by it alot.

For the out of the filter I ran a piece of foam and put a tall plant right in front of the filter. Iy has slowed down the flow quite a bit.

Just wanted to make sure… when you say cycle do you mean the 3-4 week long nitrogen cycling process?

You could get a prefilter sponge, which goes around where the water sucks up. Also you can baffle the outflow with a sponge.
