Poor little guy, he doesn't even look like the same fish. I'm glad he's back with you.

Everything is going smoothly with the tank so far. I don't even think Leroy misses his former tank mates and have a feeling he's quite enjoying life as a batchelor.

Didn't realize your tank wasn;t cycled. Daily water changes sound exactly the right thing...

Good luck!

After about 3 weeks

Here's Leroy after about the 3rd week of being back:

His colour is brilliant, he's getting his figure back, and his fin tips have REALLY improved. Even his long pelvic fin on his left side is starting to get longer... it was really short, and you can see in the above photo it's still quite a bit shorter than his right one (the tips have a pale blue colour to them).

So he's still doing well and I can see the improvements as the days pass.

I think this same thing quite often. If I waited one more week, even a few more days to go visit, I always wondered how much worse he'd have been. Still just so surprised he got as bad as he did.

I'm starting to get his little 6 gallon tank planted up. Finally have a filter I'm happy with, and a good but simple light. I bought a pot of hairgrass for one of my other tanks (to be planted today or tomorrow... when I change the water)... and the hairgrass pot is temporarily in with Leroy. He really likes it I think so I'm considering putting it in his tank, or at least a little of it.

That's right, Silverfang! I think he's happy to be back.

And to everyone out there, just look at the photos of Leroy in the last 3 weeks.... this really shows what clean water and a good diet can do to a fish in generally poor condition! And the reverse is very true... he came to be in such poor shape in only a couple weeks!

So no slacking because you can see what could happen to your lovely little betta!
